Are you an AWS Data Engineer looking for your new adventure? Look no further!
Our client in Cape Town is searching an AWS Data Engineer to join them and will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and security of our data infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Data Pipeline Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines to ingest, process, and analyse large volumes of structured and unstructured data from diverse sources.
- Data Modeling and Warehousing: Design and implement data models and data warehouses to support reporting, analytics, data lineage and business intelligence initiatives.
- Performance Optimization: Optimise data pipelines and queries for performance and efficiency, ensuring timely and accurate data delivery for business applications and analytical insights.
- Data Quality and Governance: Implement data quality standards, data validation processes, and data governance frameworks to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of our data assets.
- Technology Evaluation and Adoption: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in data engineering and recommend innovative solutions to enhance our data infrastructure and capabilities.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, software engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders, to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
- Security and Compliance: Implement security controls and encryption mechanisms to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, such as POPIA and GDPR.
- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Document data engineering processes, standards, and best practices, and facilitate knowledge sharing among team members to foster continuous learning and improvement.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Math, Computer Science, Engineering or related
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer
- Financial services experience will be beneficial
- Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Previous experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.
- Familiarity with data modelling techniques and database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, MPP databases).
