- Description
The Swan IT Team is currently looking for a dedicated and motivated Senior Linux Engineer to join them in Cape Town. This position involves designing, implementing and maintaining Linux-based systems and infrastructure, ensuring the stability, security, and performance of server environments. You will also manage automation and configuration tools, supporting the deployment of applications.
Responsibilities:
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining automation scripts and tools using languages such as Bash and PowerShell
- Deployments, configuration management, and system monitoring
- Design, install and support Linux in a server environment: Implement and maintain Linux systems in a server environment to ensure stability and performance.
- Establish and ensure high availability of systems
- Job Automation: Develop and manage automation scripts to streamline tasks and improve efficiency.
- Provide hardware support for servers.
- Provide VMware system support.
- Ensure optimal efficiency systems in batch environment
- Maintain related documentation
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Windows certification will be an advantage
- 2+ years of Linux experience in a server environment
- 1+ year of VMware experience
- 1+ year of experience building highly automated environments
- 1+ year of experience with Bash and PowerShell
- Preferably 1+ year of experience with HP and Dell hardware
- Preferably 1+ year of experience with CA AutoSys
- Preferably some knowledge of Cloud technologies
