Swan iT is searching for an experienced Product Owner to join a client in the Johannesburg area. As the Product Owner, you will own the product vision, roadmap, build and execution of a newly-built ERP system. This position will be the primary decision-maker on the project, and will drive alignment with stakeholder needs and lead a cross-functional team to deliver measurable business value.
Responsibilities:
- Own and drive the ERP product vision and roadmap, aligning it with strategic business goals while translating needs into prioritized, actionable requirements that balance immediate value and long-term scalability.
- Drive phased delivery of the ERP system, ensuring quality, budget, and timelines are met while overseeing legacy system decoupling, and tracking progress
- Engage and align senior stakeholders and executives, ensuring their needs shape the product roadmap while delivering strategic updates, resolving conflicts, and securing leadership support.
- Lead and empower a cross-functional team, assigning roles strategically, and ensuring high-quality, scalable ERP delivery.
- Own key decisions on scope, priorities, and resources, while being fully accountable for project success and transparent reporting to leadership on progress, risks, and KPIs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar role, with at least 5 years leading large-scale ERP or enterprise system implementations.
- Proven track record of delivering complex, high-stakes projects on time and within budget, preferably in a matrixed or hierarchical organization.
- Strong technical background, with deep knowledge of system architecture, API integrations, data migration, and cloud-based ERP platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
- Extensive experience with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and SDLC processes, including requirements gathering, testing, and change management.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with demonstrated ability to influence and engage C-suite executives and board members.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams in high-pressure, time- sensitive environments.
- Certification in Product Ownership (e.g., CSPO, SAFe PO/PM) or Project Management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is a plus.
