Enterprise Architect (Analyst/Programmer)

Swan IT is searching for an Enterprise Architect (Analyst/Programmer) for a permanent position in Cape Town. This position will craft and govern the end-to-end architecture vision, translating business strategy into practical roadmaps and standards.

Responsibilities:

• Shape and maintain the enterprise architecture vision and roadmap aligned with business objectives.


• Define and enforce architecture principles, patterns, and reference models for core domains (e.g., retail, supply chain, finance).


• Lead architecture reviews to ensure projects adhere to standards, integration needs, and risk/compliance requirements.


• Engage stakeholders to understand priorities and advise on design choices, integration approaches, and technology selections.


• Monitor emerging technologies; recommend tools and platforms, balancing innovation with cost and existing investments.


• Oversee integration strategies for seamless data/process flows, guiding API and event-driven approaches.


• Collaborate on data models, governance, and analytics alignment with enterprise standards.


• Identify architecture risks (technical debt, vendor lock-in) and propose mitigation; plan for resilience and disaster recovery.


• Produce clear architecture artifacts and communicate decisions in business-friendly terms.


• Enable capability through workshops, training, and mentoring of architects and teams.


• Work with vendors/partners to validate solutions and ensure compliance with enterprise standards.

Requirements:

• Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience in architecture roles.


• Proven experience guiding architecture practices or frameworks in an organisation.


• Strong strategic and analytical skills: assess environments, spot gaps, and recommend pragmatic improvements.


• Business acumen: Translate strategic priorities into actionable architecture initiatives.


• Technology knowledge is a significant advantage, including familiarity with enterprise platforms (e.g., SAP) and cloud environments (e.g., GCP), as well as a high-level understanding of integration, data, and security considerations.
