Swan IT is searching for a Volante Designer for a 12-month contract in Johannesburg. This role requires a strong understanding of financial messaging systems, enterprise integration patterns, and hands-on experience in Volante Designer and Java-based development frameworks.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement integration solutions using Volante Designer to support various financial messaging standards (e.g., ISO 20022, SWIFT, FIX).
- Develop and configure message transformations, validations, and orchestrations using Volante tools.
- Build and maintain integration components using Java, Spring, Hibernate, and Apache Camel.
- Work closely with business analysts, architects, and other developers to understand requirements and deliver optimal solutions.
- Design and optimize complex SQL queries and database interactions for data storage and transformation layers.
- Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications through code reviews and rigorous testing.
- Collaborate in agile development environments using CI/CD tools and practices.
- Document technical specifications and maintain architecture diagrams and integration guides.
- Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues in a timely and structured manner.
- Monitor and support production environments as needed, including incident resolution and root cause analysis.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Volante Designer training/certification (advantageous).
- Java certification (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional Java SE).Experience working in financial institutions, particularly with payment gateways or financial messaging systems.
- Familiarity with message standards like SWIFT MT/MX, SEPA, ISO 20022.
- Knowledge of containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Exposure to DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git, Maven).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Volante Designer: experience designing, testing, and deploying financial message transformations.
- Strong Java Development: solid understanding of core Java principles and enterprise application development.
- Spring Framework: experience with Spring Boot and Spring Integration.
- Hibernate ORM: for data persistence and efficient interaction with relational databases.
- SQL: strong knowledge of writing and optimizing queries, stored procedures, and database structures.
- Apache Camel: hands-on experience building enterprise integration flows using Camel routes and components.
