SAP Development and Integration Lead

Swan iT is on the hunt for a SAP Development and Integration Lead for a perm position based in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in ABAP and SAP integration technologies (such as BTP Integration Suite (CPI), PI/PO, IDoc, OData, APIs, RFCs, etc) and a strong background in SAP modules and development frameworks.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the SAP development and integration team, ensuring quality and timely delivery of solutions.


• Design and implement technical solutions using SAP ABAP, Fiori/UI5, BAPIs, BADIs, User Exits, and other enhancement techniques.


• Oversee integration architecture and interfaces across SAP and non-SAP systems using tools like SAP BTP Integration Suite, IDocs, RFC, REST, SOAP, etc.


• Collaborate with business analysts, functional consultants, and project managers to gather requirements and develop scalable solutions.


• Ensure adherence to SAP development standards, governance models, and documentation best practices.


• Conduct code reviews, unit testing, and promote code quality through automated tools and CI/CD practices.


• Drive innovation by evaluating emerging technologies, integration tools, and SAP roadmap offerings.


• Coordinate with Basis and security teams on transports, access control, and performance optimization.


• Provide leadership and mentorship to junior developers and manage vendor/partner resources where applicable.


• Support upgrades, migrations, and major SAP transformation projects (e.g., S/4HANA version upgrades).


• Ensure adherence to SAP clean core strategy to minimise custom code and modifications.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline.


• 7+ years of experience in SAP technical development, with at least 2 years in a team leadership role.


• SAP Certified Development Associate or similar technical certification.


• Familiarity with SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform), event-driven architecture, and mobile development.


• Experience integrating with third-party platforms (GCP, MS Azure, AWS, etc.).


• At least 5 years in SAP Development using required development tools and coding languages.


• At least 3 years in S/4HANA and Business Technology Platform.


• Experience with S/4HANA development and extensions using CDS views, AMDP, RAP.


• Strong experience in ABAP, ABAP OO, Adobe Forms, and SAP Fiori/UI5 development.


• Solid expertise in SAP integration technologies: PI/PO, CPI, API Management, OData, and Web Services.


• Experience in large-scale SAP transformations and migrations.


• Hands-on experience with SAP modules such as SD, MM, FI/CO, HCM, or others.
